We are still Here!!!

I know it has been awhile.  Things have been moving along a little slowly since the PM got back.  I thought we were ahead but we found out that there were several snags along the way.  We are still scheduled to close on the 5th of September but things like the electric meter, gas meter and water meter had not been installed until just a couple of days ago.  I stopped by the house this morning and ran into the PM.  He advised that someone was coming in to grout the bathroom floor, hang shelves, finish plumbing work, touch up paint and the cleaners were coming in to start cleaning.  He also said our appliances were going to be delivered before noon.  My husband and I later returned to the house at the end of the day and I could not get over how much different the house looked. The PM did advise that a gas range was delivered and had to be sent back because I ordered and electric range.  We were really happy with the way the house was coming along.  I did not take picture's of anything today except for the outside of the house.  They had painted the outside trim and our front door although they still had the door open because of the wet paint.  I did not take any other pictures because there were alot of people inside the house working to get it ready for us.  I'll post more pic's as soon as I can.  Our final walk through is on Tuesday.

Getting a little bit closer!!

August 18th, we stop by the house to see what progress, if any had been made.  Upon arriving there we saw that our black shutters had been installed along with our outdoor lighting.  The electrician was there installing our indoor lighting.  We noticed that Guardian had been there to install the security system as well.  All of our trim and doors were painted and it looked like the walls got another coat of paint.  Most of the plumbing work was completed but not all of it.  The banisters had been stained but I was not really happy with the look of it.  The bottom post going upstairs looked much darker then the rest of the banister so we are going to talk to the PM about this.  They need to match it up better then that.. I must admit there were some things that were not pleasing to us and I may post some pictures of these problem area's later but we would like to talk with the PM first.  Our PM has been absolutely great but he has been away for a couple of weeks and someone else is filling in for him.  One of the big problems we had was that last week when we were there we saw that our door to our walk in closet had been hung with the rest of the doors but we noticed that the area cut out for the door was about a half inch higher then the door jam causing a gap just above the door that was visible from inside the closet as well as the bedroom leading into the closet.  We took a picture of it.  While we were there today we noticed that the walls had another coat of paint and walked down to the basement where we noticed that nobody had repaired the big square holes that had been cut out of our ceiling so that someone could run the gas lines that had not been installed prior to drywall. This was ok because we know that it will be taken care of before closing, however upon going upstairs to the master bedroom we looked over at the closet door and it looked as if the huge gap above the door had been re-drywalled taped over, mudded, sanded and painted.  I thought to myself, "why would they fix this and not fill in the huge holes in the basement ceiling".  This prompted me to reach up and touch just above the door and upon pushing on the area that looked like it had been fixed, my finger went right through it.  My husband and I started to get a closer look and was able to see that the area had been taped and sanded then painted over.  The PM would never have even known about it since all the doors arrived and were hung after he left to go out of town.  Mad was not the word for how we were feeling!  We truly believe that this was someones way of trying to fix a mistake the easy way! I can't wait to talk with our PM about it when he gets back on Monday.  On the brighter side of things, we also got our driveway and sidewalk poured as well and the outside of our home looks absolutely wonderful to us!!!

Is it just me or does the banister look like it is stained a little darker in some areas?
Also they do not have our glass panel door up that leads down to the basement next to our stairs, It was sitting in the garage and the SR says that it will be installed prior to closing.
Love the drive way.  They had just finished when I arrived

Wow! What a difference two days make!

Ok, so we were last at the house on Wednesday, August the 8th and saw that the walls had all been taped, mudded and the ceilings were all textured.  We also saw that all of our cabinets, etc... had been delivered and were sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.  We went back today and the cabinets had been installed and the walls had their first coat of paint.  Our stair rails, doors, trim, fireplace and front porch pillar were also installed. We are so excited and can't wait to see what progress is made next week. Im glad we chose to have the house painted a different color, then the off white that is standard with RH.  It felt warm and cozy. It really made the white trim stand out!
Love the Kitchen counters, can't wait to see them minus all the dust

Now just waiting for the shutters

Ok, something else we wanted to share. While we were there at the house we weren't alone. There were two men there and they were cutting big holes in our floor! Three of them on the first floor to be exact.  One in the formal family room, one in the hall in front of the stairs and the other just to the right side of our fireplace. My husband looked at me and said what in the world are they doing?  We then went down to get a view of our finished basement and there were three big holes cut out in our already textured ceiling!  So I went back upstairs and I ask the guy who is busy putting our floor back together just what exactly was going on.  Well, he says, we had to cut holes in the floor and your downstairs ceiling to run the gas lines to your fireplace.... Im thinking "this does not seem normal" and so I ask,  Is this normally how they do it?  He says, "No, Somebody dropped the ball"  He proceeds to tell my husband and I that the lines were suppose to be ran before the drywall was installed and that someone forgot to do it! What??????? below are just a few pic's.  Its hard to believe that after building this many homes that they would fail to run gas lines prior to installing drywall.  Not really happy about this and hope once the ceiling is patched that we won't be able to tell where the holes once were.
this is where they cut a hole in front of the stairs

one of the holes cut in the basement ceiling to run the forgotten gas lines

another hole in the basement ceiling :-(

Moving right along!! We have stone installed and our drywall is hung!!

On Friday August 3rd, our stone was installed. The shutters have not been installed yet but the drywall is all hung and someone was inside mudding and taping the drywall so we are moving right along.

I think it looks better in person

We also had our garage door installed but who ever was inside working parked their van in front of our house

We never made it upstairs to take pic's because someone was busy at work mudding and taping the drywall and we did not want to get in his way.
